Litany of Love

Written by listener Judith Pohl…

From my need to prove my love to others,
deliever me, Jesus
From my need to be needed by others,
deliever me, Jesus
From jealous love,
deliever me, Jesus
From possessive love,
deliever me, Jesus
From selfish love,
deliever me, Jesus
From the fear of serving others,
deliever me, Jesus
From the fear of being abandoned,
deliever me, Jesus
From self-serving acts of “love”,
deliever me, Jesus
From playing the martyr,
deliever me, Jesus

That I might love You above all else,
Jesus, teach me to love
That I might love my neighbor as myself,
Jesus, teach me to love
That I might put others before myself,
Jesus, teach me to love
That I might desire good friendships for my friends,
Jesus, teach me to love
That I might be gentle with others,
Jesus, teach me to love
That I might bite my tongue when my opinion is not needed,
Jesus, teach me to love
That You never premit me to hurt another,
Jesus, teach me to love
That I might see You inside each soul,
Jesus, teach me to love
That I might see a person, not a project,
Jesus, teach me to love
That I might forgive before forgiveness is sought,
Jesus, teach me to love
That I might love like You,
Jesus, teach me to love.Amen.
