Season 5

In this season our main text was “The Four Loves”. For our Narnia book, we read “The Horse and His Boy”. In addition to various “After Hours” episode, we also did a series on Lewis’ apologetics and a series on his poetry. We spent a month looking at a book written by one of his correspondents, Sheldon Vanaukin, called “A Severe Mercy”. We also recorded an Ecumenical Lewis series where we spoke to people from diverse religious backgrounds who all love Lewis.

The Four Loves (November 2021 – March 2022)

Often said to be the companion piece to “Till We Have Faces”, this season we discuss the book which resulted from Lewis’ series of radio talks on the subject of love, “The Four Loves”.

Ecumenical Lewis (April 2022)

This was a series interviewing people who all love Lewis, yet come from diverse religious backgrounds: Reformed, Eastern Orthodox, Latter-Day Saint, Baptist and Orthodox Jew.

Apologetics Month (May 2022)

C.S. Lewis was one of the best-known apologists of the 20th Century. In this series we interviewed a number of different apologists who unpack some of the arguments which he proposed.

A Severe Mercy (June 2022)

“A Severe Mercy” chronicles their romance between Sheldon Vanauken and his wife, Davey, their friendship with C.S. Lewis and the heartbreak which they experienced.

The Horse and His Boy (July 2022)

Our Narnia book for this season was David’s favourite, The Horse and His Boy.

Poetry Month (August 2022)

C.S. Lewis is not widely known for his poetry, so in this month we looked at his career as a poet, as well as that of his wife, Joy.
