Erudition Series: Is C.S. Lewis the most erudite person who ever lived?

The C.S. Lewis Forum, a new Facebook group, was launched a few weeks ago. It initially featured a five-segment report on the “Favorite Shorter Writings” survey that I conducted with the support of many of the most recognized people in Lewisdom (or is it Lewisiana?). I hope members of various CSL Facebook groups found all that to be interesting and useful.

For the past week or so my postings have been more of an introductory nature about the new C.S. Lewis Forum, including its guiding principle, the logo, a tagline and curriculum of ideas. Now it is time to move into topical discussion mode.

There are many topics that I believe will be interesting. But, just for fun, I want to start with one that is, well, just for fun.

So, here is the first question that I want to pose to the members of the C.S. Lewis Forum:

Is C.S. Lewis the “most erudite” person who ever lived?

I will not be available to get back onto this until early next week, but I thought it might be useful to give members, and those who will be joining the Forum this weekend, an advance look.

Calling all those “exemplars” who so kindly supported my “Favorite Shorter Writings Survey” . . . What do you think?
